Snow storm preparations
Please be aware that it is the property owner's responsibility to keep the sidewalk clear of ice and snow. The Village of Newark does plow the sidewalks in the school route as a courtesy to the residents, when there is sufficient manpower and equipment.

Please do not dump or pile snow on the sidewalk or in the road. Violators will receive written notice and failure to comply will result in the Village removing the snow and billing the property owner.

If you have a fire hydrant in front of your property, we would greatly appreciate any effort to shovel around it. This helps you and the Village. We attempt to shovel them out as best we can, but with the impending snowstorm, we may not get to all 400+ hydrants.

The Village of Newark DPW Operations does its best to salt and plow the Village streets to make travel as safe as possible. Please reduce speed, use caution and stay safe!

If you have any questions or concerns, please call (315) 331-6199.
